Meaning Of Life (In A Way)

This topic is a discussion every young adult definitely has with her set of friends. We always discuss at least once what it means to be on this planet, what it all is supposed to be. Most of the times, a conclusion is never reached, first because we don't know for sure, and second, may be because there really isn't (meaning of this life in a broader context). But that doesn't stop our mind from wandering off, discussing and imagining the expanse of possibilities that could be.
The following is one of those less thought-of scenarios about all this-

Have you thought that may be every step we take, every small thing we do, it all amounts to something? May be it changes something in the world, changes how things will turn out, what the future will be, what will happen to us and what, to everyone and everything else. I think this might be true, but to think of it, it is strange, because it isn't that a single entity can do something as to impact everything else, right? And in a way, it is really scary. That may be if I had done something different in the gone day, the future would be 'better'. But my point is not that, that if it is for the better or worse. I am wondering how and if, this actually works. How a small event can change the outcome of certain other events, how one thing leads to another, how the butterfly effect actually takes place! Well, I know that it is well documented but wouldn't it be great if it was actually shown? Shown in terms of people and their actions? It would be such an amazing thing to see how if I had taken a different road (literally), what would be different in a random stranger's life! What if I had turned left instead of right, would that have a long term effect on my life as well? Would it change how I die? ..or something as significant as that?

The reason I started writing this down was actually 'bigger' than the world. Because there is a high chance that what we do affects the world, the Earth, everything in our ecosystem, in some way or the other, whether it be important or unimportant, small or big. I want to actually consider a bigger scenario. What if our ecosystem is not just the Earth but the whole Universe? I wonder if small steps that we as humans take affect the universe as a whole. Does it have some reaction somewhere far off? I am already curious to actually see those events, if any (hopefully). For example if a city becomes a ghost town, will it change the size of a nearby galaxy a teeny tiny bit?

You know probably it is my human ego that is making what we do so important in my head as to actually make a difference in this magnificent arena that we call The Universe but may be it's true you know. May be even if we see things as bad for us, they are doing good things to the universe as a whole. That when we think that what we do is pointless compared to it all, may be it is not.

I am not saying certainly, but may be, just, may be.
