'Harry Potter Vs Twilight'

I have always read a lot and over the time I have read Harry Potter and Twilight series both, one throughout holidays of tenth standard and another in twelfth vacation. My take on them is different than most because I love them both (to most people's surprise) AND I absolutely do not understand the comparison between both that goes on all over the Internet.
Sometimes, it is the comparison of one thing and sometimes of another, but it's always there. I get lost in a train of thoughts seeing the memes; I have always wanted to retort to the comparisons, once or twice I did as well, but it couldn't go on forever. I always end up wondering the reason and the answer I reached to is that they are put side by side because they are both 'epic' in the word's true sense! With a gap of less than 10 years, our generation got two series of books which were sold, acclaimed and loved all over the world. This I think is the reason for the constant battle between 'Potterheads' and 'Twihards',

Many will react to this by again comparing how Harry Potter books taught us so much and that Twilight was just a story of a sparkly being. But again, I have just one answer - I don't feel the need to compare them, I love them both and I am not changing my view even if that's the 'trend'. For me, Harry Potter and Twilight worlds hold a lot of significance in their own respect.

HP world has taught me to dream, to believe in something I would never have if I hadn't been one of those belonging to the HP generation. The HP books make me go into a magical world instantly, where everybody does his best to be an excellent teacher (McGonagall), to behave as pure blood as possible (Malfoys) and belong where he actually does (Harry). Every one has his morals to stand by, be it the Weasleys or Dumbledore.

Twilight on the other hand is a story about an ordinary girl who falls in love with a person who loves her  unconditionally. For me, the essence of the series lies in the feeling that a girl can get about being special unlike she thinks or expects. It's not important that Edward sparkled, what was, was that he was there for her all the time, caring for her, protecting her and who ultimately wanted everything for her life. It was about the mental battle of a girl's ambivalence in choosing between two guys both of whom she loved (which many people would instantly think is ridiculous but feels perfectly plausible to me!). It is a series that expressed love so wonderfully yet simply that every girl who read it must have loved it at some level.

In conclusion, I wish I would want to solicit not do the comparisons but I don't want to and that's kind of pointless anyway because I don't even know how many will read this. But yeah, I would say, if you haven't read the books, don't go around judging them!

I am glad I wrote this, had it on my mind since long!
PS: I thought the picture was amusing in this context thinking that people criticize each other but here it was the opposite. :P

Adieu! :)
