'Harry Potter Vs Twilight'

Image
I have always read a lot and over the time I have read Harry Potter and Twilight series both, one throughout holidays of tenth standard and another in twelfth vacation. My take on them is different than most because I love them both (to most people's surprise) AND I absolutely do not understand the comparison between both that goes on all over the Internet. Sometimes, it is the comparison of one thing and sometimes of another, but it's always there. I get lost in a train of thoughts seeing the memes; I have always wanted to retort to the comparisons, once or twice I did as well, but it couldn't go on forever. I always end up wondering the reason and the answer I reached to is that they are put side by side because they are both 'epic' in the word's true sense! With a gap of less than 10 years, our generation got two series of books which were sold, acclaimed and loved all over the world. This I think is the reason for the constant battle between 'Pot

A page out of a girl's diary!

Wrote parts of this on Women’s Day when I was in a really determined and strong kind of a mood. The other parts of it are written in a serene manner, so this post itself is symbolic of the variations a woman can have, the moods, thoughts and qualities. The first thought which comes to my mind when I think about women equality in this world is that women are never given the respect they deserve. They weren’t given importance a 100 years back when the women of that era must have hoped for a better future, nor are they given the praise they deserve even now when girls and women all around hope for a better future for their daughters. I have always wondered why, oh why, are jokes made on women so much more than the opposite gender. Why is it that every male I know would be offended by a male-mocking joke whereas they expect us to laugh at those aimed at us. This fact I have always despised and I personally take a lot of pleasure in forwarding female-empowering one liners; the

Date a girl who reads!

A friend of mine shared it and I found this more worthy than just being copied on a txt file. To be remembered. And to inspire that there ARE people who value this, think like this! "You should date a girl who reads. Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes, who has problems with closet space beca use she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve. Find a girl who reads. You’ll know that she does because she will always have an unread book in her bag. She’s the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore, the one who quietly cries out when she has found the book she wants. You see that weird chick sniffing the pages of an old book in a secondhand book shop? That’s the reader. They can never resist smelling the pages, especially when they are yellow and worn. She’s the girl reading while waiting in that coffee shop down the street.

A SHORT STORY! :)

This is a short story I wrote around 3 years back! It was my first (and only) work of fiction!! And now I realize that the best I can do with it is to post it here! :) Hope you like it! Feel free to give it a title by the way, couldn't think of one. Here goes- Simran had alw ays been my best friend. We grew up together as neighbors. We played together on the beach, went to school together and even did our homework together. We supported each other whenever needed..obviously! ;) She had an elder brother two years ahead of us in school; we always looked up to him whenever we required any kind of help. Karan (I never called him ‘bhaiya’ :D ) was an ideal boy- one of the best students in the school and very much loved at home, even everybody who lived around praised him. Well, I can guess what kind of an image you must be getting in your mind so let me tell you it isn’t like that, he HAD friends AND life! :P I rarely initiated talks with him because I was too shy
