A SHORT STORY! :)

This is a short story I wrote around 3 years back! It was my first (and only) work of fiction!! And now I realize that the best I can do with it is to post it here! :)
Hope you like it! Feel free to give it a title by the way, couldn't think of one.
Here goes-

Simran had always been my best friend. We grew up together as neighbors. We played together on the beach, went to school together and even did our homework together. We supported each other whenever needed..obviously! ;) She had an elder brother two years ahead of us in school; we always looked up to him whenever we required any kind of help. Karan (I never called him ‘bhaiya’ :D) was an ideal boy- one of the best students in the school and very much loved at home, even everybody who lived around praised him. Well, I can guess what kind of an image you must be getting in your mind so let me tell you it isn’t like that, he HAD friends AND life! :P

I rarely initiated talks with him because I was too shy to do that plus I had a secret crush on him, like, since forever! :] But he was always nice to me, he encouraged me with my designing skills, courtesy which I took it as a profession. He told me “See! What a beauty has come out of these shells just because of you!”, whenever I finished making a necklace or a showpiece with those pieces we found at the beach.
When we grew up to be teenagers, we became friends; I, Sim and Karan enjoyed a lot together, especially on the beach during holidays. Those are the best memories I have of that period of my life. But, as he reached 12th standard, his terms with us faltered…his company turned into the more ‘lafangey’ type, though, he still behaved decently at home. We knew we were losing him, both as a person and as a friend! We didn’t know who to approach when we came to know about his smoking and drinking inclination. It always had been him we ran to, when we were in problem. Few months passed and it got worse, he stayed away from home all night on the pretense of a pajama party or group study but we knew it wasn’t a ‘pajama’ party! We tried talking to him but to no avail. It seemed he felt guilty but didn’t have the will power to come back from the road he had chosen. He joined a private college and continued with his bad ‘habits’. Then a day before his birthday, Sim was crying about how much had changed in a year, I just had to do something so I went to him and begged him to stay at home that night. He agreed just because he could see the tears I was holding back. I also decided for an overnight stay, so went home to bring my pajamas and some important stuff I needed to bring him ‘back’. When the clock showed 15 minutes to midnight, I went to his room without Sim and knocked. He opened the door as my heart pounded in my throat. I asked whether I could come in. He nodded and went back. I could smell smoke (I hate it) but moved to his study table, pulled out the chair and sat on it! He was sitting on the bed. I gave him the box I had brought from home, beautifully packed. He raised an eyebrow and smiled a formal smile. At that moment I prayed to god to make it real then and there! I didn’t react so he continued with opening the present. When the wrapper was off, he smiled when he saw the wooden box we had made together. And that was when I started speaking and went on for a long time. I started with reminding him of the days together on the beach when we three had so much fun and with each incident, there was a memorable creation associated, which now lay in his arms. It had always been him who encouraged me to finish something stupid I started...he was never out of ideas, he always suggested something and saw me through.
By the time, I had reminded him of everything, he had tears in his eyes and mine too weren’t dry. I wanted to tell him how much I missed him every moment of the day but carried on, about Sim’s tears, his parents’ doubts, everything! And then, after an hour of my talking, he talked. He talked like he had never before, desperate to get it out if his heart and mind. He told me how easily he was influenced with the bad company and how much he wanted to let go but couldn’t, how much he had needed exactly what I had just done. I was horrified listening about his ‘friends’ and relieved as well that he also understood they weren’t right in doing all this. He felt lighter, and so did I. When he had finished, we stood up, to go and tell Sim everything. She was relieved beyond measure as she had got her brother back in time. As he hugged Sim and apologized for everything he had done with himself and us, I brought cake pieces and stuffed them in their mouth! Everything was gonna be alright again. :')
And then started his journey back from where he had left himself, the real him, the better him, the ‘our him’!!
We became best friends again, like we had been forever…..! :) Hopefully, one day, we two would become something else too ;) ……..I would say, we are already on the way…. ;) :)

Sooo, in the hope that you liked it!!!
Adieu! :)

Great Job Neha..I really liked it. It reminds me of those days when I used to write in my diaries and never posted on any forum/blog.. I was lazy to put it on the site. I won't give any suggestions here, because its your story and only u can make your story best not me or someone else. I like originality and it might get lost if I give u suggestions - be yourself. Keep writing.. it reminds me some beautiful moments spent with my friends, rain and my first blog.. Its "refreshing" :)

Thank you very much for the positive comments Bhuwanesh jiju (Just realized this is the first time I am actually interacting with you!) :) I would love suggestions as well, would try to incorporate them whenever possible! Won't let it influence the originality, will use it to improve my writing!
Thank you again! :)
